Stage 1: WALYUNGA SCENIC LOOKOUT TO NISSEN HUT PARUNA SANCTUARY ~11.5KM +624M

Stage 2: NISSEN HUT PARUNA SANCTUARY TO VALLEY CAMPGROUND AVNP ~16.4KM +499M
This section predominately runs parallel to the train line over looking the valley. It is much less technical and challenging but will still keep you honest. There is a 500m goat track section 1km out from the Valley Campground aid station that will add an element of surprise.

Overall this is a challenging course with approximately 1,612m of elevation and plenty of technical surfaces. However, we provide aid stations approximately every 12-16km to provide plenty of opportunity to refuel and refresh. We also allow a generous 21 min/km for you to finish the course (14 hours). All participants must keep ahead of aid station cut off times and be at the finish line before 8:30pm on the 25th of June. The runners from the 65km ultra and relay are starting 25km behind the 40km hike start. Some runners will close that gap, please make way for them passing through and give them a cheer on.
Please note you are required to have the same mandatory equipment as the ultra and team relay. This is a very remote region and we take our health and safety seriously. You will be very happy to have supplies with you if anything was to happen.
Please note that ~75% of this course is on private land and for that reason can not be completed for training in the lead up or post the event. So you can have the opportunity to complete this course we have had extensive negotiations with the following list plus a number of other relevant organisations. If you ignore this message you will jeopardise our ability to host this event in future years, stopping people from achieving the same experience we want you to have.
