Step into what for many is unchartered territory. The Avon Valley offers a special trail experience that will test you, yet offer a huge sense of accomplishment once you cross that epic finish line.
The 28km distance can be done as a hike or as a run.
Start Line: Nissen Hut, Copley-Dale Rd, Gidgegannup. 11:00AM.
Stage 1: NISSEN HUT PARUNA SANCTUARY TO VALLEY CAMPGROUND AVNP ~16.4KM +499M
This section predominately runs parallel to the train line over looking the valley. It is much less technical and challenging but will still keep you honest. There is a 500m goat track section 1km out from the Valley Campground aid station that will add an element of surprise.
Stage 2: VALLEY CAMPGROUND AVNP TO COBBLER POOL ~12.3KM +489M
The last leg is a bit more unique with a long gradual climb to the highest point of the course, followed by an adventure through three farms. Finally, you will reach the Transcend finish line near Cobbler Pool.
Finish Line: Cobbler Pool, Cobbler Pool Rd, Morangup.
For more course detail please visit our course profile page. The 28km Run start line is Leg 4 (Nissen Hut) of the 65km course.
This course will take you to many places you have never experienced before. The course is undulating, featuring 988m of elevation and plenty of epic trails and views. We provide aid stations approximately every 12-16km to give you plenty of opportunity to refuel and refresh. We also allow a generous 19:20 min/km for you to finish the course (9 hours). All participants must keep ahead of aid station cut off times and be at the finish line before 8:00pm. The runners from the 65km ultra and relay 40km run start much earlier in the morning, there is going to be some overlap. Please make way for everyone passing through and give them a cheer on, hopefully they do the same in return.
Please note you are required to have the same mandatory equipment as the ultra and team relay. This is a very remote region, and we take our health and safety seriously. You will be very happy to have supplies with you if anything was to happen.
Please note that ~75% of this course is on private land and for that reason can not be completed for training in the lead up or post the event. So you can have the opportunity to complete this course we have had extensive negotiations with the following list plus a number of other relevant organisations. If you ignore this message you will jeopardise our ability to host this event in future years, stopping people from achieving the same experience we want you to have.
Arc Infrastructure - No train line should be crossed in the Avon Valley.
Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary - You can pay to visit this sanctuary between, May and November for $10 per person. You must stay to designated walking tracks when you attend. Please note they have bush cameras throughout the sanctuary.

3 Private Lot Owners in Toodyay - They have all requested that you respect their private land ownership. They do not want any incidents on their land, damage done to fences or stock - person interaction.
