Please note there will be only one park entry pass in the race pack for each ultra participant or team. We highly encourage car pooling due to there only being limited parking available and to reduce carbon emissions. Additional people and cars that enter Walyunga National Park or Avon Valley National Park have to purchase additional park passes at the entry gate (cards accepted). Please note you can purchase an ANNUAL local park pass online from DBCA for just $25/year, this can only be done before the event.
The ultra start is at Boongarup Pool. Watch the start of the event, get involved to generate excitement and an atmosphere. We will also have some music and a coffee van at the start line (BRING CASH as there is no phone reception) to keep you entertained and energetic whilst the runners complete their final preparations.
In winter this is one of Perth’s most picturesque locations. There is two large car parks. Please be very careful on the entry / exit road as it is only wide enough for one car to pass through and is on a very steep incline / decline. Patience will be required. The runners will pass over the bells rapid bridge and through the border of the back carpark to the Orlov Tunnel. Spectators DO NOT cross the railway, trains pass frequently and are hard to see when approaching. You can however use the Orlov Tunnel where the runners pass through.
Here you can drop off a relay runner for Leg 2 and look at the beautiful view of the Swan Valley. There is a small carpark, however lots of room for verge parking on Rollinghills Drive. Please be mindful of people's driveways. There is overflow parking on Botanic Loop. Please don't walk on the road and stick to the verge.
This is a stunning location with views up stream towards Toodyay. Here you can drop off a relay runner for Leg 3 and park at the lookout or park at the overflow parking inside Paruna as directed. Please take care on your way to this location as O'Brien rd is a popular cyclist and also car enthusiast circuit. There are lots of large bends in the road, there is also a single lane bridge. Ewing road is a straight, flat wide gravel rd that a well maintained 2WD should handle easily at an appropriate speed. There is a fire pit and coffee van accessible here inside Paruna.
Please note this is also where the 40km Hike and 40km run start from.
You can access this point off Copley-Dale Rd. There is an 800m straight and flat gravel rd to the aid station. Please drive slowly, it is a two way road and is quite narrow. Patience will be required.
Copley-Dale Rd to Nissen Hut Path Map Link
Please note you still have to drive 800m up the gravel track after reaching this map link. Refer to the interactive map above for more detail.
Please note access roads in this park are all gravel and unmarked. You will need your allocated park pass. If you need additional park passes you will have to buy them at the entrance. Please note you are not permitted to drive down to Valley Campground, instead you will have to park at our designated parking zone inside the park where we will have a transfer bus take you the remaining 3km. Runners will be of preference, we are also happy for spectators to use the transfer bus if seats are available. Please be patient it is a challenging part of the course to access. Please also note there is a lot of wildlife in this region so it is very high risk that something will jump out in front of the car. Please take extra care.
This is the finish line location. Please be very careful as there is a considerable amount of wildlife in this region that might jump out in front of the car, especially around dusk. We will have a couple food / drink vans for you too choose from and some activities to keep the kids and adults entertained. Help us build an atmosphere and chant in the runners to celebrate their huge triumph.
